James R

no there's not much. abotu 5BHP, but does make more torque and higer up the rev band.

ive heard (but havent checked the stats) that theres not much difference between the glf mk2 gti's 1.8 8v & 1.8 16v

Women

Kev's is quicker because it's a multipoint engine. your's is single point and tina's. These are low power engines and hence Kev's is more power full. on a 1.4 where it's both MPi, it's close like 1.4 8v 84BHP, 1.4 16V 89BHP

always thought 16v's where much faster than 8's

i.e mine vs kevs....

James R

Because at 70mph yeah the same car will need Z amoutn of power to pull it along. Now at any give throttle position, rpm the engine will use X amount of fuel to make Z amount of power. If Z is the same then X will be very close as it's not max power you're using. ( they wil differslightly as it's efficienty is different) and anywho you seen a 8v and a 16v 2L race esp in a nova I dare you to spot the difference.
Hope that is clear enough Kurt

Korsa

why is a 8v slower than a 16v then if they use the same amount of fuel?

James R

posted on 23rd Mar 04 at 10:39

Nope they will both give you about 35-40mpg.
The astra managed abotu 23mpg yesterday driving from heathrow to cardiff down the M4 @115spoon/hr

Korsa

much diff in petrol on a 8v rather than 16v?

James R

posted on 23rd Mar 04 at 10:01

Then drop a 2L 8v in yourself, not rocket science, you can pick up a 20SEH for 50-100notes. dead easy. then fitting kit 380, so for 500 you could drop a 130BHP 2L in, sorted. and petrol consumption is very good with those in.

me as i cant be fucked 2 pay well over 1500 for a 2.0 16v converion and less petrol to
