I have just received information regarding speed cameras in the Blackwall Tunnel and on the A2.
There are now small undetectable average speed detection cameras sited in both the north and south bore of the Blackwall Tunnel. The speed limit for the tunnels is 30 mph northbound and 40 mph southbound. It seems that these have been implemented by TfL and not the police. Any offences raise charges of £100 per offence or £50 if paid promptly. As there are no signs warning drivers of this speed trap, there would be no licence endorsement just a fine.
On the A2 either side of the Black Prince new smaller digital speed cameras have been installed. They can take an unlimited amount of photos and do not flash so you don't know you have set them off. At the moment the threshold is 60 mph (in a 50 mph limit) but this is likely to be lowered soon.
