Originally posted by richard_syko From Extreme: Tuesday afternoon: Gumball Trilogy After pointing out yesterday how crucial it was to catch the ferry from Croatia to Italy, we nearly missed it - mostly because the drive took so much longer than we'd expected. By the time we got to Dubrovnik the ferry was already meant to have left, but luckily was delayed because the Dodge Viper had a fuel spill and that had to be mopped up before the boat could leave. In fact they had to open the bow doors again to let us in, so we're feeling particularly lucky to be here. There's no prizes for reaching each destination first, but if there was then Gumball veteran Remy would be consistently winning. He did 216mph today in Croatia, driving a custom Mercedes CLK which is one of only ten in the world. We caught up with him (somehow) tonight to talk cars, and he certainly knows his stuff. He picked out three cars on the rally that he considers to be the pinnacle of car design - the Gumball trilogy as he described it; the Maclaren Mercedes SLR (pictured above), the yellow Porsche GT Carrerra and the Ferrari Enzo. The red Enzo on the rally is seriously high spec and worth about half a million pounds, and rumour has it that it's driver got locked up today for speeding. But the car has made it to the ferry so I'll have to investigate that one. Meanwhile Bez has had an absolute shocker but has finally caught up with the rally. Whilst parked up in Prague, his car got broken into and thieves made off with the plasma screens, all their hifi equipment and the car's engine management system! By the time Bez had sourced a new one and had it fitted he was 9 hours behind the rally, so he hasn't seen any of the other cars until tonight when he finally caught up by boarding the boat. In other rally news, our presenter Ed Leigh spent the morning in a Hummer with DJ Ghost and said he's an absolute maniac. At 7am he was blasting out trance and undertaking the pack in the Gumball lane (hard shoulder), then later on went through a coned off roadworks area to get ahead. Meanwhile skater Rob Dyrdek (and his trusty bodyguard Big Black) got his 450bhp Subaru WRX up to 180mph today whilst racing a Porsche. And on a final Porsche related note, the VW Camper van with a Porsche engine has made it to the ferry but has had tons of mechanical problems. The guys spent fifty grand to make it faster, but now it's breaking down because it's running too rich. There's a poignant message in there somewhere.
