Bollocks... im afraid..

You can weld stainless to mildsteel, using mild steel wire in a mig..
The weld wont be nice and shiney like it would be with stainless wire, but you can make a strong joint.
I had a Kakimoto racing rear box (off a skyline!) and welded it onto my Prelude's mild steel rear section.. I had it on for 2 years with no problems.

Welding stainless to stainless isnt hard at all - dont know where you got that info from?!

no you cant weld stainless to mildsteel, only to stainless and its very very hard to do. like welding aluminium, thats hard too.

basically I have a completely standard corsa exhaust system on my car at the mo. I have brought a stainless steel backbox only. How do I connect the backbox to the remaining system?

I can only see two options, either by flexi pipe and clamps or by welding? (welding the back box to the remain sections that is)

if u cud give any advice how to do either of them in the cheapest and easiest way that wud be cool.

cheers

i'm lost :boggle:
you're wishing to have a mild steel centre section and a stainless steel backbox, yes??

where does welding come into it??

because apparently flexi pipe costs shit loads and also the general flow of a welded pipe wud be better than that of a flexi pipe I think?

why would you need to weld it??
