whoa I posted this ages ago, and have now fitted the exhaust ages ago. Anyway I ended up virtually doin it myself. I got an iron man from up my road to weld me a bracket to go around the box which has two hanging rods coming off it just like whats on the car already and then I took the old back box off cut off the rear pipe part right close to the box and then cut to slits into the new backbox exit pipe put the old cut off pipe in it, clamped it up, then the exhaust fitted to to the mid section perfectly since the join was the same as before. Then just attached the exhuast rubbers and I was there.

I hope it was very cheap. Why not just buy a proper exhaust and bolt off bolt on!

its not as easy as everybody thinks , if its not done right it throws the centre section out of alignment. you cant just cut the old brackets off and weld them to the new box, what if the box wont fit in the original space where the old box was ,you have to make different mounts for it. we charge 40 quid at top gear burnley.just make sure the box you buy will fit first , not too long or too wide.

I take my car to the local ETS, they do custom systems only charge £20 for a universal back box if it has the adapters, yet if it aint got the adapters your looking around £30-£40.

ok I can now see how I can get a hanging bracket made up. Now for the connection of the inlet pipe to the centre section.

you should have recieved a springy piece of metal with the 'fitting' kit, the garage will cut the hangers off your old exhaust and weld them to this piece of metal which should slide over your exhaust the old hangers will thne fit back into the old rubber gromits

ok, i've recently found out that welding a normal steel exhaust pipe to a stainless steel is more complicated than welding like to like. However I want this done cos it gives better flow than flexi pipe. Forgetting that tho, where I would be able to the fitting brackets that mount around the silencer to enable it to be connected to the exhaust hangers that are already fitted to the car?

As I'm sure everyone knows that rage exhausts are mainly universal fit ones. So now I got one how do I fit it. |
