adjust it untill its level with your brake pedal, i think if something is wrong with clutch youd have trouble in all gears.

After having a slight burning smell (or am i imagining it) and 1st and second gear being a bit hard to get in I tried to adjust my clutch cable.

I loosened th cable a bit, thinking it could have been making the clutch slip and burn.

I still have a bit of a problem with 1st and second.

Should i be loosening or tightening the cable to sort this out?

Also what is the ideal travel for the pedal? The haynes manual seems to be of no help at, the numbers don't seem to fit in at all.
