U saw Mike, the spanner

It will accept 6 channels from your headunit, but when you only got one preout what ye gonna do? Its gonna be a mess all round mate unless u spend some serious cash

ahhh right, cheers richie.

I might only get one mono block and sub anyway, because I dont want it to slow me down all that much.

I saw your bro in town last night, not Tim, the other one.

But with that you could get a nice lovely alpine head unit with 3 pre outs?
What HU u got at the mo ?

You could use a couple of line drivers, but they are £120 each. 3 of em would cost ye £360 so if u got the cash go for it

im getting an Alpine CVA-1004R which has a motorised screen.
but at the end of the day, whats the advantage of having a standard 4V preout as opposed to havin a 2V one and using a line driver????

Well for starters id change the stock headunit kev :P

Would save you alot of hassle by getting a flash unit with 3 4v preouts.

The pheonix TLD will boost one preout to 8vRMS. So realistically if you were to split that to three amps you would still only be getting about 2.5vRMS to each amp, which isnt really great.

Your in a pickle matey :P

2v hahah that a joke.

You wanan get urself a good headunit liek alpine with 3x 4v or 3x 5v.

Best option m8.

Cheers guys

yes, i want to run 3 amps, 2 mono blocks and a four channel normal one.

So what do you advise about running the 3 amps with one 2V preout???

Because i want a nice big signal to be fed into the amps.

A line driver boosts signal voltage. If you have one pre-out then you can boost it to 4v and split it so its 2 x 2v for exampe. You can boost it and split it as many times as you want but you halve the voltage each time you split it. You can split it using RCA splitters which are cheap as chips, you dont need a line driver with one input and three outputs. Why do you want three, is it for three amps? If you have a pre-out crossover on the h.unit then it will apply for the the pre-outs if you split it (obviousley). Get yourself a pheonix TLD1 if you want quality, about £110 and up to approx 8v out of your preout.

if the line driver has 3 outputs and 1 input it will work

If a headunit has only a single 2 Volt preout, is it possible to use a line driver for the and split the signal so that it works the same as having 3 preouts????? :boggle:
