ok then. I know someone who did this to their Astra GTE, and they found that cutting the whole bottom of the airbox out was not beneficial since the engine was starved of oxygen, as there was a more complicated airbox system, and no pressure difference inside!! Drilling too many holes will also cause a problem.

Cybermonkey is wrong. You can happily drive with no air filter. Its common not to use air filters for competition use....

Cybermonkey24, would drilling the air box cause the same problem ?

no its not. an induction kit works by creating its own pressure within the construction of the kit so that it draws in more air immediately when the inlet manifold requires it

Cybermonkey24: it's only like an induction kit...????????

stupid idea. Pressure in the airbox will be non-existent and you will end up with the engine stalling evry time you pull away because it cannot suck any air in

p1723944: it's up to you but if you have a load of dirt entering the engine bay, your air filter will get dirty really quick and then lose performance....

i'm going to doctor the airbox but i think the drilled look is sh!t, can any of you think of a reason why i can't cut the bottom/side of the airbox out and redo it with mesh instead of drilling ? |
