I did 1650, nothing about 1800. The C20xe can only be taken to 2.1 as then the walls between the cylinders are very thin.

If it can be done to the x16xe or c16xe then it can be done to the x14xe. You could maybe make it to a 1.8 with a longer throw, but he's not going to get a new crank and rods for £400 now is he!

Guys are you kidding:lol::lol::lol::lol:
Its possible to increase the 1.6 block to 1.8 capacity
Go to www.mantzel.com or www.rissemotorsport.de and you can even buy a full engine
:) but it's very expensive:(
I spoke with Mantzel himself and he told me that it wasn't possible to upgrade from the 1.4 16v to 1.8:( just from the1.6:(
He uses other pistons conrods and crankshaft but he didn't said from where:( stupid german:lol::lol::lol: smart arse
:lol::lol:

i know what you are getting at miles, and i meant the cylinders, not the head oops. But you would need a very good mechanic to do it properly. 400cc increase is pretty big. On the 20XE's, isnt 2.1 the largest you can bore to? whats the reason for that?

I know it wont make the head brittle as boring the block has nothing to do with the head.

The Blocks are obviously machined at some stage from the factory. IE they are not cast. So if it doesn't cause that to happen on a standard engine they why would it with a modified one? I cant see any reason why a careful bore will cause the cylinders to go brittle as long as its not overdone.

yes it might be the same block miles, but how do you know that the boreing process wont make the head brittle and as soon as its given some right foot, its gonna crack??

You can bore the 1.4 16v out to 1650 the same as the 1.6's. Its the same block on the 1.4/1.6's but with a different bore. The parts are going to cost more than £400.

yea, ur looking at another 100cc max!!
no chance of getting 400cc from boreing.

i would be weary of your brothers 'mate'

:lol: i wouldnt even give oyur car to this fella, let alone mine 1.4 to a 1.8 wat a crock of shite. :lol:

maybe 1.45 or 1.5 max but there is no point in doing that, much better off spending the money on getting an inlet manifold which will release a lot more bhp for less money.

You will not be able to bore it out that much. POssibly to a 1.5, but 1.8 :lol: And the guy thinks he's a pro.

I reckon he thinks he's just gonna swap the block over and pistons and think its gonna work :lol:

i doubt you can bore out a 1.4 to a 1.8, don't know much about corsa c's but on a corsa b 1.6 you can only bore it out to a 1.7!!

Depends what its getting bored out to, and what he actually means.

£300 for a engine rebuild with oversize rebore and new oversize pistons and rings is stupidly cheap.

Or if its £300 for a rebore then your being done over!
