yes you need to replace the copper washer on the sump nut

also, if your having problems getting the oil filter off (i.e. you dont have one of them chain rachet type thingys) then just drive a long screwdriver thru the filter and then twist it off

Cavey, 10w40 oil will be too thin, i'd use 15w40 at least on yours

Sounds a good offer, i might have to do that too, when my loan cheque clears anyway

Reminds me, i might take up the offer in halfords for a trolley jack for £29.99 with 2 free axel stands.

yeah, i threw some 10/40 halfords in it the other day

needed topping up, plugs were messed up, had to get AA out cause they were sparking too early, so i need that done too :S

all servicing is really easy to be honest - sparks just screw in, fuel filter clips in.

if ya gonna service it i'd recommend you change your plugs too - cost me 15 for sparks and 5 for the tool to get em out - should be 10mm sparks in yours.

i'd probably be inclined to stick 15/40 oil in ahigh milage car like yours, but 10/40 may be fine - vaux oil is cheap and v.good (£10 for 5 l)

Was well looked after before i got hold of it, i'll tell the truth, not done much to it really... had it for about 17k, or something... So it's not been serviced for that long, was thinking about getting it done anyway.

Doesn't sound too hard to do the oil change anyway :)

jack it up on axel stands and undo the sump nut ( with a bowl underneath :!)

let oil drain out, do nut back up.

take of oil filter with bowl under neath.... replace filter, smearing some oil or grease around the edge.

fill the oil back up checking oil level on dipstick.... if this is in a corsa then i should take about 3.5l.

when did you last service it?

127K is a lot, but not if it is well looked after.

Without trying to sound like a complete retard, how would i go about this ?

Cause i have that bloody annoying Tappy noise from the engine, or should i just fuck it off and buy a replacement engine, cause i wanna get a new one anyway... 127k on mine :p
