if the damage is done, can it be reversed by taking the kit off?

or is it fucked forever :( i was quoted £350 for a new one from vauxhall :|

I work in a garage, I can confirm that K+Ns mess up the AFM, on vauxhalls it is a very very sensitive component which is designed to work with the normal Air box.

The increased airflow acheived from the induction kit will damage the sensor especially at high revs, this is because when the engine was designed, the sensor was only designed upto the maximum permisable air flow through the inlet pipe, increasing the amount of hot or cold air through it creates turbulence in the pipe and damages the sensor. I advise keeping the standard airbox.

idle is affected due to the pressure drop when you fit a cone filter. if you over oil a cone filter you can fuck up hot wire AFM's. N/A car won;t have a MAP sensor

Its to do with the oil that they use to traet filter.. I went through 2 AFM before changing to a K&N panel filter which worked well

doesnt f*ck anything up. i have the c16xe engine with green twister, works ok. it might not like if you use like k&n, without the heat shield, cos it will suck up hot air.

use proper filter with heatshield and proper ducting.

and with vaux, idling probs is part of the engine, unfortunately....

didn't think these engines had afm's. I thought they had map sensors.

Got told fitting an induction kit to my corsa b 1.2 16v would fuck the air flow meter...true?
cheers
