When i start the car up and move away, it is very very draggy. As in, the more juice i give it, the more i seem to slow down!!!

This also happens from time to time around 3500 revs in 4th or 5th gears. Kinda a loss of power or so.

When this started to happend my engine management would light up, until i "regained" the power by basically changing down gears.

Now the light is on all the time.

I have a 16 pin diagnostic plug. I even went to the extent of dishing out 19 bucks on a fault finder from halfords, but i follow the instructions, and the light doesnt flicker or anything. I DO NOT have an led near the diagnostic plug.

So, anybody else had this bother??? Cures?? or can anyone suggest possible solutions (sensible please).

1.0 12V engine.
