gambit it would make sense as its his left tyre which is going quicker. flying corsa, u got a 1.4 or 1.6 16v by any chance?

well as you can probably imagine i dont drive my car like a vicar on the way to a sunday service......but i dont very often spin the wheels due to the nasty tyre wear that this incures

as far as im aware all FWD cars have unequal lengths of driveshafts?? so this would be a charactersitic off all FWD cars

though u could be on to something Kris! if you constantly floor ur car in 1st & 2nd then 9/10 it'll be the left hand that spins due to the shorter driveshaft. only time the right will spin is when all the load is on the left, i.e. going round a right hand corner

no it aint catching at all its just wearing alot faster than the one on the front right.....like you say ..wierd!

when u say scrubbing... do you mean the wheel is hitting the arch or your tyre is just becoming bald on the left?

If its the last i had this for a while.. tyres went bald on the front, tracking was all fine, camber etc too.. wierd!

its deffo not the tracking as i have had that checked loads of times but it still does it
....do you think it could be anything to do with the gearbox being on that side and therefore having a shorter driveshaft than the right side....could that make a difference?.....just plucking at straws now

Icy

cud be camber or trackin

mine rubs on that side more than right side :(

FLYING CORSA

ajscorsa - sounds like your tracking that mate go to your local garage mate and they should sort it ....it expensive bought £15 - £20 pending where you go
.....problem is the problem i have is that the tyre wear is even over the whole tyre not just on the edge, D'oh!

ajscorsa

im getting this also. tracking is fine. its just on the left hand side of the tyre front left wheel also.

my car isnt lowered.....infact it looks highered lol.....just standard suspension and the wear of the tyre is even all over except maybe a tiny bit of scrubbing on the outside edge but this isnt alot.....everything runs really smoothly on the car and there is no juddering or vibrations anywhere even up to 128mph....smooth as a babys bum!
.......but im still getting this extra wear on the front left tyre
....cheers guys, any more suggestions?

Worn down where? on the edge of the tread, all over, on both edges in the middle....?

Gambit

posted on 1st Sep 03 at 11:26

is your car lowered?

is the tyre wear all over the left tyre?

do u go around a lot of right hand corners?

now i know you probably think this is the tracking but i have had that checked several times and it is bang on!

but i have now had 2 sets of tyres (YOKO AVS SPORTS) on the front of my 1.6 sport (v reg) and the front left has worn down a lot quicker than the one on the front right.....and its now its beginning to pi$$ me off a little as tyres aint cheap

....any suggestions here would be great as i have no idea as to why it is doing it, cheers folks
