if its only a small rust spot just use a touch up pen until you can afford to get the whole thing sprayed if u can be bothered if not just leave it done with the touch up pen.

refurbing wheels is easy.

what i did, get the tyre removed.

went round the rim with a discs sander to get rid of some of the kerbing marks and make it all level. then filled in the remaining marks with filler. smoothed off. sanded off any corrosion front and back with p80 paper then used filler on the front too fill in the holes/ not smooth bits. then went over the face of the wheel and the lip with wet and dry to remove shine of old paint and grease etc... then sprayed the wheels in high build primer, then top coat then laquer. then painted the inside with black hammerite.

oh i removed the valve too.

did that on a corroded cav gsi rim, looks brand new now, its my spare

as for the rust spot, is your car metallic? if so its much harder to blend paintwork in which is why i suggested above on the wheels that you laquer the whole thing, however if its a solid colour like white, red, atlantis blue etc... then you can blend it in using something like g7 rubbing compound.

I've changed my mind- I don't feel confident enough- Cheers for all the help though, I might have a crack later or save up and get it done by the pros!

One last Q, I have a rust spot on the back beside the number plate- Is there any special technique to making it so you can't see it after painting (would cutting paste work)??????

I'd recommend paying the money and having a pro do it- at least you have comeback if the finish is crap - unlike if you 'experiement' :)

how would I paint the whole thing without having it lying down (I suppose you can't paint one side at a time)

do would defo have to laquer the whole thing anyway so you may aswell spray it all.

you will have to spray the whole wheel cos alloys arent painted, they are powder coated.

Where would I go to get the paint mixed up and put in a can and how would I blend the edges after it has been painted??

Any help appreciated!!
