ok people are goin off the subject, ok id buy it, i just bought mine 2 weeks ago, 1.4 16v SRi, at 90BHP n 0-60 in 10secs which is bull cuz ive had mine a lil faster than that, ne ways, its a good buy at that, n people who say they lack power musnt have drivin them, i mean its faster than a VTR(1.6) n wud give a VTS a good run, very very nippy, and feels alot different to my old 1.2corsa. they are tuneable to about 140 BHP with rite equipment so a performance garage near me told me, with a induction kit, s/chip, cams cut sharper, new sparks, manofould, and more things i didnt understand you can get it to that (ive been told so dont start argueing with me over this i dont know myself) so i think there can be alot done with them. and there is a differene between 1.2 n 1.4 cuz 1.2 only pushin 70-75bhp while SRi pushin 90-92 plus 0-60 is about 1 or 2 secs faster which is quite a big difference, but i am very bi-ist to my SRi cuz i love it :D

this was from an e-mail from vauxhall.......direct quote
"The new edition of the Vauxhall Corsa, on sale in the autumn, comes with a

* Twinport technology cuts fuel consumption by up to 13 per cent
* New Euro 4 1.3 and 1.7 litre common rail turbo-diesels
* Dynamic looks, agile handling with shorter steering ratio

The new edition of the Vauxhall Corsa, on sale in the autumn, comes with
a fresh dynamic design and a broad range of technical innovations.

Highlights include new 1.3 litre and 1.7 litre common rail turbo-diesel
engines (70 and 100 hp) and a newly developed 1.4 ECOTEC 90 hp petrol
engine with twinport technology.

The 1.4 twinport uses up to 13 per cent less fuel than the current Corsa
1.4 litre model.

The innovative petrol saving concept from Vauxhall is also available for
the three-cylinder 60 hp Corsa 1.0 litre model, using around three per
cent less fuel than its predecessor, with more power and torque.

Electric, speed-sensitive power steering is more responsive and a shorter
steering ratio improves handling. With an expanded range of equipment,
the Vauxhall Corsa, in its third year of sales, is more technically
mature than ever.

The new edition Corsa's exterior has been redesigned with distinctive 3D
headlamps with three cylindrical lamps for low beam, high beam and
indicators.

Front and rear bumpers are colour-keyed and come with integrated inserts
to protect against damage from minor collisions. Inside new upholstery
and colours provide a fresh ambience. All these visual enhancements
underline Corsa's athletic styling.

Comprehensive equipment on the revised Corsa includes a "follow me home"
light function, that provides exterior lighting after the car is parked.

Corsa's engine range consists of six four-cylinder units - four petrol
and two common rail turbo-diesels from 1.0 to 1.8 litres.

The twinport petrol engines achieve reductions in fuel consumption by
using a variable intake manifold in combination with high rates of
exhaust gas recirculation.

For example, the new 1.0 ECOTEC twinport engine returns 53.5 mpg, three
per cent better than previously.

Fuel savings are even greater with the 1.4 ECOTEC twinport engine,
returning
47.9 mpg, 13 per cent better than its predecessor with the same power
output and five-speed manual transmission.

The new 1.3- and 1.7-litre CDTi ECOTEC turbo-diesels produce low fuel
consumption combined with high performance and refinement. The compact
1.3 CDTi ECOTEC - the smallest four-cylinder common rail diesel engine in
the world - returns 62.8 mpg thanks to its Multi-Injection system.

The 1.7 CDTi ECOTEC features a turbocharger with variable turbine
geometry, and returns 58.9 mpg with maximum torque of 240 Nm.

Easytronic automated manual transmission is an option on the 1.0 twinport
and 1.2 petrol engines.

Prices will be announced closer to on-sale date."

sorry its so long

Im afraid I dont think they r doin the 1.7CDTi in the corsa. Its astra and meriva only. There will be two new diesels availiable. The 1.3 and 1.9 JTD's that have been jointly availiable with Fiat. The 1.3 recently clocked well over 100 Mpg in the Eco speedster and can top 160mph in that guise!

that really isnt the point i was making?? all i was saying that the 1.8 SRI isnt as quick but is a more modern and comfortable drive day to day.

I wasnt trying to degrade the pug or any other super mini, but what i was pointing out is the new corsa drives and feels like a bigger car and this really benefits it.

Proberbly because they have a better spec etc than a 106. Also because its a newer car (Introduced in 2000, as apposed to the 106 being introduced in 96, possibly earlier as im not sure if the phase 2 was just a facelifted phase 1 or not).

The corsa is meant to be a fast comfortable car. The 106 is more of a pocket rocket, with more emphasis on going fast than a comfortable ride.

thats what i was thinkin. how can, 125bhp with 0-60 in 8, feel underpowered? :boggle:

Right to clarify what was said, the 1.4SRi isnt really worth buying if u already have the 1.2sxi...etc (C) the diferance in performance isnt that great (i work in hartwells vauxhall norwich and drive these cars at least once a week.

Bollox to whoever said the 1.8SRi feels underpowered!! its a 1.8 (125bhp engine in a corsa and it goes like stink)!! 8sec 0-60 isnt underpowered. (ok cars lilke the pug 106 GTi are quicker) but the corsa is more refined and alot more upmarket to drive.

U lot can now argue with what i have to say but i know what im talking about as i drive these cars (along with alot of others) and it aint bull shit.

Yeah, but its only the same stuff that you can buy for the 1.2 i.e inlet manifold, air filter, exhaust. Havent seen any cams for it or an exhaust manifold yet.

You can get Dbilas TB's but they add about the same amount of brake as the inlet manifold.

Nope. They use the Z14Xe, not the C14/X14. Same output, but different engine.
