Its a 1.4 16v sport,and yes it stats perfectly and runs fine,but just desnt seem to pull as well as it did.

im not positive its an exact amount of teeth out,but i did align the marks on the pullies and made extra of my own on each side of both pullies and made sure they lined up with a ruler when i put the belt on, which i secured with vice grips as i put the belt round the rollers, so its couldnt be that badly off.
after that i changed oil, filter and plugs,but just doesnt seem to have the same power.
maybe im just paranoid??

one tooths a fair bit out too if your still driving car around.....

how do u know timings one tooth out??

im not overly sure on timing on 16v engine but im guessing thats done with rocker cover off and cams alligned that way??

either way youll have to take timing belt off and start again.

There is nothing you can 'tune' on the rollers on these engines.

Cursa is right, fiddling with the ecu aint gonna do anything if your valvs are opening and closing at the wrong time. i just went to vauxhall and they changed my timing belt and tentioners for forty notes. if you get the timing too far out you start to fcuk your motor up. then you will be paying a hell of a lot more to get it sorted.

The teeth control the camshaft which opens and closes your valves, if the inlet valve is staying open for a tiny bit too long, it's going to be open when the piston starts the compression stroke, throwing out some of your air and fuel, reducing compression and quantity of fuel.

In short, It's not just your ignition timing that needs reset.

No offence mate, but what I've been saying seems blindingly obvious, should you really be doing your own timing belt??

if the ignition can be reprogramed then surely its just a matter of telling it to fire at the right time in relation to my new timing, therefore making the position of the teeth irrelevant.??

has anyone taken their corsa to the dealer to have it reset, and how much does it cost??

The ECU can only adjust the ignition and fuel timing, not the cam timing. So sorry, back to taking the belt off!

hi lads,
ive just changed my belt and rekon the cars only makin about 70% power,can the vauxhall garage reset my timing without takin the belt off, i.e playing with the ecu ??
i marked the pullys but they must be one tooth of the belt out.
i was gonna get it tuned up on the rollers with a vaux specialist but he's booked up for weeks.
