because years ago cars cooling fans were running all the time via this belt. the alternator belt ran to the fan, thus making the fan spin round with the cars RPM. not good on cold winter day as the colling fan is still cooling the coolant even if it is cold! | |

i got an alternator belt.....why do they call it a fan belt? its got f all to do with the fan?!? | |

i dont have a fan belt on there. its run by an electric motor. i think ill leave it to the grease monkeys down the local vaux shop! | |

If you need to ask pay someone. Ask them if they mind showing you how, so you can do it next time. There is little margin for error with them. | |
