Your speedo is a sensor linked to the ecu.
So wouldn't be supprised if it played up without it as vauxhall ecu's are wierd things.

the speedo cable would cause it to cut out and not run properly

When the speedo on my car didn't work the engine management light came on and it did stall sometimes. Apparantly the speedo is all linked to the engine and if the speedo is not registering the engine can cut out. It usually cut out on mine when i was slowing down to a stop. Hope this helps

the speedo cable would definately not be the cause, run off the faull codes it will give you an idea of whats wrong see the tutorials to find out how

I have a corsa sri, ive replaced the engine and fitted a new clutch, but the cars engine management light kepps coming on for a few seconds and if you dip the clutch the car cuts out. When restarted or bumped the light goes out. Ive been told that the snapped speedo cable is to blame but cant see how a speedo cable which is mechanical would affect the engine management system. can anyone confurim that this could be the cause or give me any other ideas as to what it could be.
