Agreed, but its a new car and if he plans to keep it (due to financial situation etc...) then why not save up and do these mods,

And it isnt that costly; + it helps to make the car a bit nippyier and a greater pleasure to drive.

* panel filter £20
*drilled airbox +airfeeds £15
*cam £150 (his was reprofiled by local engineering company)
*exhaust (he paid £250, powerflow weekend deal)
*unichip £300

a friend of mine has modified his corsa C 1.2 16v engine.

1)
From what he tells me ur best bet is to get a custom powerflow exhuast made up for ur car (this should help to allow exhaust gasses to flow more freely and give u a nicer exhaust note  )

2)
Drill ur Air box on the underside and fit it will a freeer flowing panel filter (dont bother with an induction system as this engine dosnt respond as well)

3)
Get a couple of air feeds running from the bottom of the front bumper and have them directed at the drilled area of the air box.

4)
Next thing is to either get the existing cam re- profiled or purchase an aftermarket cam.

5)
Dastek Unichip rolling roaded to ur mods. this should help everything run nicely together and give u the option of adding mods in the future and getting the chip re-mapped to the mods.

6)
Dbillas do a manifold that regal claim add an extra 15-20bhp to ur engine. (although i doubt there claims it should still give ur car a nice boost)

My m8 has done steps 1-5 and i must admit these really do help the car (when racing he's always 3-4 cars lenghs ahead and has much better in gear acceleration then i do)

hope that help m8 (oh and 1-5 dont cost much either)
