rite on my sony CDX 8000 when i press 'AF' the date display goes blank...?
if i got an adapter would this actualy display track names n that?!

Oh yeh RDS is just a name display for the station e.g station name etc..

new RDS coming out allows you to plug a fone into it and it can display text messages automatically thru the RDS... good for pirate radio one would say....

you can with the high end sony kenwood pioneer and alpine headunits. prices for the connectors vary, expect to pay about £60-£80 depending on the manufacturer. they connect to the top plug on the stereo loom.

Unless the headunit has the option of RDS output, you cant wire it to the MDF. The MDF was specially designed to go with the standard vauxhall unit.

RDS: Radio data System.

Currently only in use in Great Britain, parts of Europe and Scandinavia, but may be more widely introduced with digital radio broadcasting.

RDS is digital data carried with FM transmissions which offers automatic tracking for the best possible reception, station name display and traffic announcements.

MFD = Multi Function Display

Cant remember, think some kenwood ones do, that was a while back,and u'd prob need some sort of adapter for it.

If a Head Unit has RDS does it mean it will Link up to my MDF? Or what aftermarket head unit will work with a MDF in a corsa b?
Thanks!
