I have Dunlop 195/40/16's and there is a big difference in the tyre wall size! My car is lowered 60mm and with the 45's it was rubbing slightly, now with the 40's there is no problems at all!

i had 195/45/16 tyres and mines dropped 60mm, then bought new 16's and got the 195/40/16 tyres and the differences were amazing!!!!!

vauxhall's offset is 49mm anythin smaller will make the wheels sit further from the hub an put extra stress on bearings etc.

quote: I wouldn't say that. I think theres a massive difference in the tyre wall size. 40's look sooooo much thinner than my 45's. U shouldn't have any problems with 45s, but if u got a subtle kit like me, and u can afford it, go for 40s. (195/40/16)

yeh only one make do 195/40, the 205/40 is most common but after the 195/45 tyre has stretched a little it is basically the same as the 40profile.

40's are not worth the extra (alot more) money from 45's
