if your engine is whining a lot it could be the idler bearings

no, you undo the alternator and move it so its tight. do on mine nayway, should have like less than half that much slack. if you cant tighten it more then you need a new belt.

i've got a 1.4 16v.

i think it's a bit loose cause my engine whines alot, apparently thats cause the belt it too tight or loose.

if i push on the belt its got about 1 inch of movement.

also i've got what looks like the runner pulley in the middle of the belt that also moves from side to side when i push it, is that the thing i adjust?
