Idle control valve - try cleaning it with degrease spray

Give it a service for 20/30 quid could sort the problem. If it's not eml I would imagine it's just not getting fuel/air mix right which could be due to the choke. Although what 3 corsa said is a good point. Hadn't considered that.

Keep an eye on it for the next week or so and watch when it happens and what going on when it happens will give you a better idea

Thanks guys,
I'll take a look at your suggestions. EML light is working.
One thing I notice yesterday. First drive in the morning, auto choke kicked in, (i could here the RPM was higher) and stutter wasn't there. This morning, didn't have quite so high RPM at initial start up, and it was stuttering a little.

Mine did that when the belt tensioner was loose

I couldn't say it would definitely sort the stutter out but I would start with new filters, new oil, new plugs and some redex in the tank.

It sounds sort of like a misfire but a misfire would be constant not intermittent.

Is your eml light working? The actual bulb I mean. It should illuminate when you turn the ignition on

Thanks for the reply.
Its 8V. Been to the garage 3 times in the last year, for other issues. New radiator, new brake discs. I asked them to look at the stutter issue, but no one has come up with a good answer yet, without having to throw a tonne of money at it.
Would throwing some injector cleaner in, be a good first option?

I'm guessing ignition or fuel problem. When did you last service it? Can fix all kinds a through service.

16v or 8v?

Hi,
I'm hoping one of you guys will have an idea, whats wrong with my Corsa B 1.4.
It has a stutter when accelerating since I bought it a year ago.
I will try to explain in as much detail as possible.

It happens from idle to about 2000rpm if you accelerate normally.
If you give it some beans, then its not as bad.
Once cruising at 3000rpm it runs perfectly well.

We just had the head gasket replaced, Mayonnaise in the oil tank :(
So engine has been flushed out and new oil and filter.
I was hoping may have been the issue, but alas no :(

The stutter is not consistent or of the same intensity every day.
For example, yesterday it was stuttering quite badly, Today not at all.
If i find the throttle point where its bad, and hold my foot there, it will progressively get worse, until the car is Kangarooing down the road.
I feel that when taking my foot off the gas at low speed, the deceleration is very abrupt.

My thoughts on what it could be.
As its random, some sort of fuel contamination blocking jets??
Sparks or HT leads? But then why would it be random?

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be thrilled to hear your thoughts.
Cheers Lee
