Pretty much what dav said.

highly likely to be the inlet manifold, weather its the top half or the gasket where it meets the head.

Try spraying carb cleaner around places what may have an air leak, vac pipes, etc and listen for idle change.

Could be a leak around the icv/brake vac pipe seal also the intake pipe could have split after the afm.

Aiming to get my X16XE GSi up and running properly in the next week, current symptoms are as described in the title, when the engines running you can hear it sucking a lot of air in which I guess is the cause of the lumpy idle??

Any idea's where I should be looking? My mate mentioned taking the top half of the inlet off as it's likely the gasket between the upper and lower has perished?

Anything else I should be focusing on? :)
