The eggy smell does not mean the CAT is failing. Its just a bi-product of the nasty gases being converted to inert compounds. If your CAT is failing, it will rattle when changing gears and when your revs are at high idle, this is what i found in my experience. Run the engine to 2k RPM and listen for a rattle, if you hear it, your CAT needs replacing. | |

my mot is due in bout 3 months so if it goes illbe getting a high flow one with full sysem just cant afford it | |

It fails its emissions. If you take it along to an MOT station, they'll do an emmision test for you for a bit of dosh. | |
