Just hope they know what they are doing. If they dont recut the face of the injector seats then the problem will likely come back.

Booked in on Thursday at a local "father and son" type garage, quoted £40+parts and said it'd take "a couple of hours, maybe 3"

I had access to a steam cleaner and wire brushes ect so I did most of the cleaning work myself

Depending on the amount of injectors really. I had to buy 6 new seals, clamps, ceramic grease sachets and stretch bolts and a new cover that sits on the injectors - came to about £60 in parts.

The labour to get the injectors out, clean them up, cut the surfaces on the head (also a must to prevent this happening again) and refit with new seals was £100.

Around 3 hours if the carbon build ups not too bad, spend more time cleaning stuff than anything

Out of interest what should the cost be at a small local garage ?

Couple hours labour plus parts so circa £100 ?

The black carbon mess is an utter nightmare to clean up as well!

Just been through the same horrific repair on my Mercedes. All 6 injector seals had gone and I hadn't removed the engine cover for a while.

Don't leave it unattended to - it will get worse. If you leave it too long the injector can sieze in the head and it's a fucking nightmare to remove.

Also do not just tighten the bolts - as said you can either 1. Snap the bolt or 2. Go through the water jacket. Whoever does this work for you needs to make sure they follow autodata or whatever for the tightening procedure. On my Merc the bolts were tightened to 7nm then two 90 degree turns, 5 minutes apart (they are stretch bolts)

This was my engine

Pretty much yeah. They can be a bitch to start afterwards though.

To replace the seals is it just a case of undoing the bolt, lifting the injector and seals out then replacing ?

Don't tighten them up as you can snap the bolts.

Very common on these engines, there's 3 seals per injector and they're only a few quid per injector from Peugeot/Citroen.

Will tightening it up help or am I best to just get a garage to replace them all ?

From what I've read Gary because its common rail it seals itself (or something along those lines).

I've done just that and its not obviously coming from anywhere. I've had a look on the Citroen parts database and it looks like there is a small copper gasket, which after a bit of searching people suggest replacing & doing all 4 however I don't fancy doing that myself if its not causing any problems.

Apparently this is common on the Fiesta's and Mini's using the same engine, and their forums recommend tightening a screw. As I don't have a screw and from other diagrams i've seen, I'm assuming it's that star shaped bit that has to be tightened. Just wanted clarification.

Dogey seal?

Try cleaning it all off then run the engine so you can see exactly where its coming from

Not a corsa, a citroen but I know guys on here are knowledgeable and the C2 lot are useless

DV6TED4 block, common rail

2nd injector from the left has diesel around it. Been like it for ages I'm just fed up of the smell. What would cause it ? Any ideas to fix ?

Am I right in believing I can tighten the star type thing here -
