Take it right out and stick it in a vice,takes longer but when your knuckles are bleeding and you have crap in your eyes you will know why :facepalm:

but the cv's may be goosed on another spare shaft..

but yeah that option would be better youd still need to strip the it partially down just it will be a straight swap :)

See if you can pick up a spare shaft so you can replace the boots on that and then it's a straight swap, no worries about it going wrong leaving you without a car :)

ideally got to strip front end of take the complete knuckle/brakes out unbolt strut from car etc..

best to take the shaft out the car as you dont wanna fook the inner cv! plus gonna be a female dog to tighten the clips with the shaft on car

One of the jobs I hate doing the most on a car. Having to strip the whole front end to put on a stupid bit of rubber.

Thinking about it, you shoukd be able to do it with the shaft in the box still
