I'll rake it out this weekend, I have sneaking suspicion it might be for a Mk2 / facelift as mine was a 2000 but the wiring is bound to be pretty similar

Okay I'll give that A try mate. Is there any wires that are maybe making it a constant live?

The switch moves when you move key..

So you need to move switch back to point 0 and move barrell back to point 0.

Then two will be matched.

I don't think that will make a difference? As I have the ignition off, and keys out. Then put the switch in, but they lined up, or you mean turn the switch itself?

You've got switch in wrong position.

One click is nothing
2 is lights
3 in strt car iirc

Fitted my new ignition switch and the car finally starts :D but I have a problem that when I take the keys out these lights stay on? Would anyone know the reason? The only way they go off is if I disconect the battery.
