Multimeter set to volts....trying to picture a multimeter lol. 20 i think you want? One lead on + and the other on -. Start the engine and see what you got. Should be around 14/14.5 volts. Turn everything on like lights,heater,radio etc to make sure the voltage isnt dropping too much | |

Is the earth strap on the alternator a good connection? I've had this problem before | |

I replaced my alternator about 3 months ago because it died :( replaced for a second hand one. | |

If the battery is in the boot id imagine that its not getting the voltage from the alternaor or the voltage regulator on the alternator is goosed. Strong chance its that because its what... 15+ years old? | |

Battery in boot has both terminals secure. | |

Finally got myself a code reader and now I know why my engine has been cutting out and driving shit randomly. |
