I Have a 1999 T reg sxi. They already have an imobiliser built into the key in the form of a transponder that comunicates with the ecu. No transponder key, no ecu, no go anywhere. If your not sure about yours, open the key (assuming its the type with the light) and look in the corner for a tiny black chip. If its got one its imobilised. And if you dont belive me just try and start the car without it!! lol.

I had a lazerline alarm system fitted to mine. It intergrates with the existing imobiliser to give you CAT1 catogory alarm, for the price of a CAT2. I forget the exact model but it was fitted with a tilt sensor and a back up internal siren for about £230.

Get a quote from JLS on 0161 796 7365. Might not be in your area but you can get some prices to compare against. Hope this helps mate. Adam

I have an aftermarket immobiliser on my SXi (T-plate). It hasn't caused any problems, and it's been fitted about a year.

I think the new SXi has some kind of electronic immobilizer ?

….. that someone is eyeing up your car to permanently ‘borrow’ some bits.

That’s why I have decided to buy an alarm. I'm going get one with anti-tilt (incase they try jacking the car to nick the wheels).

Can you guys recommend any models, I was thinking clifford or toad, but I know nothing about them at the moment.

Also, do you know if the Sxi has an immobilizer already fitted?
