On the SRi 8v the idle valve is just after the end of the hose which connects to the gold coloured throttle body, its held in my 2 torx screws.

The lambda sensor is at the base of the manifold and has one wire connected to it.

Yeah could be the thermostat?

u got any answer from Migweb yet?

thermostat? Would explain movement in temp. Cutting out could be EGR valve or vacuum leak. Possibly lamda probe on the downpipe broke, check that.

- it cuts out whilst driving...
- the temp rising that high whilst it was only 6oC in the morning and after 2miles of driving (usually on the same route to uni, usually takes the full journey before the car gets to running temp) something fishy is goning on there

dont try any short term fixes, like redex, or any shit cos it sounds like a bigger problem than just flushing out the fuel lines or any lines.

jus done a search on google, not much back though.

try getting a new sensor maybe? in this hot weather the hotter engine (95oC) may not be relevant.

taking it upto 4500 RPM shouldnt be a problem at all, but i have heard that constant 4500RPM for a while has made people stall when they pull into petrol stations etc. dunno wat that is about.

it is a likely thing that it could well be the timing as the exhaust system is shown up, the exhaust may not be extracted properly, down to the valve timing?

Did the car cut out when idleing or while driving?

10k boost sucks use redex

id suggest doing a compression test as there mie be a leak/crack in the head gasket.

then reset your ecu to see if its an air/fuel mixture problem.

then finally try sum 10k boost to unclog your car of carbon deposits

just done a ecu fault check and came up with code 33 which is MAP sensor too high....

so looks like it may be to do with the exhaust system.

isn't the corsa cooling system self bleeding? always thought it was

niven

water temp sensor
might be an air pocket in your coolant
a compression test will tell you if its the gasket

wont be your exhaust

i can see this happening again

:boggle:

I have read Corsa666 post and i not sure wherther i have the same problem.

Car
Corsa sri 1.4 8v, k reg, 81000 miles

Problem
My car 2day started and ran as usual... however after 2 mins i see that the temperature of the car was 95ish and just stayed there.
through-out my 12 mile journey 2day, the temp. was rising and falling way more than wat you would expect!!!!!
The more i drove it 2day, the more lumpy the revs were and the car just cut out on me (for no reason).

I had this problem over x-mas and seemed to solve it by cleaning out the pipes leading to the rocket cover (coz they were full with crap) however i had a quick check and they were all clean 2day.

Wat I think it is?
could it be the cat or the mid section exhaust pipe....(would it cause a build up of hot flumes in the manifold or something - due to the pipes being blocked)

Also to add... i did take the car for a long journey yeasterday and down the motoway (on motoway for 15 mins), I took the car up to 4.500 rpm.

PLEASE ANY1 WITH A SUGGESTION!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update
just done a ecu check and came up with code 33
MAP sensor (high voltage)
any suggestions!!
