I thought that the more stuff you have in it - ie air con and PAs would make a conversion harder as the engines may be bigger etc.

If you ave a 1.2 it will be easier to put another 8Valve in!!! Cos the xe has totally different front engine mounts!!!

Thanks Miles. Do lower mileage engines cost more?

You can find them. Just need to look hard.

Try dixons premier vauxhall spares.

I bought a 1.4 16v that had done 8,000!

Thanks peeps!

I have a 1.2 at the min. I thought maybe a 1.6 would be easier than a 2.0 due to the air con and PAS. It would still be a significant jump.

It is easy to get engines 2nd hand that have done like 30-40k? or are they all much higher mileage?

New engine = abput £1k
Throttle Bodies = About £2k
2nd hand engine = £400

Fitting, about £350 (Lee Mitchell) to £1000

You want another 1.6 engine?

Difficult to put a price on that. It really depends on who does the work etc. You'll be looking at almost £1000 for a brand new engine from Vauxhall I would have though where as a second hand one would cost half that.

On my car;

1.6 16v Brand New from vauxhall

My car has PAS and Air Con. Its a 1999'er. I need a price for the following:

1. New Engine and all extras (uprated brakes etc) I have an Eibach suspension kit already.
2. As above, but also with SBD Throttle Bodies
3. As Above, but with 2nd hand engine

Prices including all fitting. Approx prices are fine. I just want an idea for this time next year etc.

Cheers
