There's a company who do the cossie conversions to 2.4 so carn't see why you shouldn't be able to take the c20xe to 2.2? would be nice running tb aswell.

Miles would you not be able to change the bore and stroke to get the cc up on the 1.6 gsi?

2.2 isn't possible due to the space between the bores.

You cant bore the 1.6 gsi out to 1.8!!

Most you can do is 1.65 i believe.

you need to speak to someone who does race engines such as QED as above the cc wil not only be determined by bore but the stroke also. I cant see that 2.2 would be a problem at all.

get an x22xev ot of a frontera c 20xe head would go on hey presto u got a 2.2. And the calibre car used a 3.0 omega crank and rods which alters the stoke therefor alters capacity

Been speaking to the guy who's going to rebore it, he's had a look at the block and agrees 2.2 aint a viable option, and 2.1 is the only option I got

the calibre coach works astra has a 2.5 cavalira engine bord out to 3.0 litre and that seems to work.

getting pistons that fit will be a problem. its not as simple as boring at a 1.6 gsi to 1.8 and then using the new corsa 1.8 pistons.

if u need to no honda do a 2.2 engine so maybe a set of there pistons is possible

thats the main concern i've got, the strength of the engine. I just need to know if it would be possible and if the engine would still be strong.
Would be interesting if I could get it to 2.2

I think re-boreing to a 2.2 will be hard to do. Maybe possible though. But if the top guns only bore it to a 2.1, i doubt it would be safe to make it a 2.2.

Still, worth investigating though deffo. Would be very interesting!!

well im looking at a 2.1 rebore, maybe even a 2.2, depending on costs and what would be easiest to source parts.
I'm currently in talks with a few people regarding this project, all say it is possible, and are advising me to rebore to 2.2 as it would be easier to get pistons, etc, to fit the engine.
The engine has now been aquired, but work wont be done till around christmas as I need to sort alot of things out, and dont have the money or time to sort it out at the moment.

You will need to get the block rebored to 2.1, pistons and rings to fit, not sure which ones you would get though as I doubt they are made that size to fit this engine normally. Normal head gasket should be ok.

A couple of people have done this.

Nothing externally would be effected. IE TB's would still fit fine.

As above, is it possible to do to the C20XE, and also if this has been done, can a set of SBD TB's still be fitted ok? Will I need a custom made headgasget, pistons, etc, or are there alternatives I can use??
