Mines got more holes than a packet of Polos
Virtue, I'm only up the road from you, I'll put some holes in it for you if you don't trust your mate again. ;)

Kick your mate in the teeth.....then u can saw off the bit on the right hand side underneath the airbox an drill holes bout an inch in diameter on the underside of the box that waht i did sounded BAD BOY...otherwise jus get an induction kit

Nice idea...

How's about a compromise for now:

1) Stick duck tape to the inside of the airfilter lid
2) Put silicone over the holes as well

Sounds reasonable??? And yes, I have informed him he's fucked up and he'll take me to the scrappie after work

lol

cheers guys....

i have a sebring 6x4" exhaust, just wanted some noise from the engine coz it sounds pants at the mo. And then roll on 17" alloys and lowered 45mm at R-Tec :)

From dunstable, any of you guys local to me?

Just use duck tape for the minute, then get to a scrappies, don't matter if it's second hand, then yeah drill wholes in the bottom and side, making sure u do not drill higher than where the filter sits in the box

tell your mate to sort his head out aswell

Is it likely that the silicone will get sucked into the engine though???? This is feckin annoying wot a dick he is lol

 U really dont want to drive that like that, or its not just an airbox lid ure be looking for at the scrappies!

Hmm, don't suppose Halfords do boxes/lids do they?

I suppose in the mean time, I could just fill the holes with silicone couldn't I? I know it's messy but this sounds kind of urgent - and I don't want to be f*cking up a X-Reg Corsa really!

So drill holes in the side where the wing is, and underneath, correct??? How big should the drill bit be? My mate used a 7mm drill bit - and he is going to get a slap!

Cheers

Try local scrappy for a cheap one, or ask in the Wanted and classified on here as people who put induction kit etc.. may sell you 1 cheap

Oh bollocks...

Thanks all for the info. Do you know where I can get a new airfilter/lid for the airfilter, and how much?

Cheers again

Yes mate, it will fuck things up. The air is not going to be filtered so shite will get into your engine.
Slap your mate, thats my advice.

Folks

I have a 1.2 16v SXi Corsa B and my mate drilled holes in the airfilter - but he drilled five holes in the *top* of the air filter (the lid that slopes down towards the front of the engine bay). Is this gonna f*ck up things, or is it ok?

Also coz i've drilled holes in the 'wrong' place, it hasn't made much effect induction-noise wise. Can I still drill holes in the side of the air filter (wing-side)?

Cheers in advance!
