Well i'll get mine looked at this weekend and let you know the diagnosis, if it is the timing chain i can't afford it yet so is there any time limit or anything i can do to slow down the inevitable ?

Ignoring a rattle on the timing chain can damage your cams in the long run.

Timing chain. Have you checked your oil?

Timing chain kit at our place is £95, then around 4 hours labour at whatever rate your local garage is on.

Nah its never been any hassle , only seems to do it when its cold and goes away after 10 seconds at the most , anything between 200 - 500 ive heard depending on where you.

Hi All,

New to this site posting on my boyfriends account, i've got a small issue when i start my car in the morning, it makes a really bad rattle noise and then calms down after a min or so ?

A garage has told us it's a timing chain issue, but, a family friend who is a mechanic has told us it can't be that, so i'm a little confused :(

Can anyone advise please ?

Thanks
