yeah you need a deep swan neck spanner, i think its 18mm, adjustable spanner and 13mm socked for the turret bolts.

If you undo the strut nut, i would expect the nut to go one way, followed by the spring, and the strut the other way. But that's never happened to me.

My spring compressors were £15.

i'll tell you what is a bastard - getting the top of the shock undone from the chassis! you need a deep dish spanner or sumthing cos i ended up using mole grips to spin it! this was for coilovers though don't know about just springs

It's not that difficult to change springs, you just need time and care.
Pull the suspension out, fit the clamps on the springs and tighten then up just enough to take the pressure off the cups that hold the spring in place.

Undo the bolt(s) that hold the cup in place and remove the cup and then the spring.

Compress the new spring and fit it followed by the cup and bolt it all back together.

There is a little more to it, if you are not sure then buy the Max Power or normal Hayes manual, no doubt you will use the manual again.

Just looked in Machine Mart and a 3 piece coil spring compressor set is £25.95. Order code 040211224.

As long as you make a note of how the suspension came apart, and put it back together in the same order you should be OK. Also anton002 is right, try taking the old spring off and you can probably say goodbye to your hands (or worse).

i mite just get the struts off then take them down a garage and let them fit the springs.

You should be able to pick up a spring compressor for under £30 at Halfords.

dnt really know bout this but heard some people say that springs can shoot off and if they hit you could kill you .so be careful mate ,im sure you do need clamps for the front but maybe not the back

Yes you will or you won't be able to bolt the suspension back together

Changing my springs over the weekend. They r 40 mm lowering springs from pvd. i can get the front struts out, but is it hard to change the springs?? do i need to compress the springs before i change them? :o
