How sure are you that the sensor you replaced was the cause of the fault? I wouldn't have thought you'd need to reset the ECU, thought they used 'learning' ECUs ie - if the problem's fixed the car recognises this and fucks the EML off.

If worst comes to worst I'll take it to the old garage where I used to work and remove the codes when the boss isn't around.

Could be someone local with the software for clearing faults? Like vagcom but for vauxhalls maybe? Save paying £40 to a dealer

It may clear itself once it realises theres no longer a fault there

Worth a try for free. Think some say 10mins, when I do it I just leave it for longer, 30mins to an hour just to make sure
Then when you start it dont rev it and leave it a few mins for the ecu to set itself and adjust

Yeh I can do, but they'll charge. I thought U could do it by disconnecting the battery...

Can't you get a code reader to clear it at a garage?? If not I think it's about 30 seconds to diconnect the battery... Someone correct me if I'm wrong please

I've just changed my brothers engine speed sensor on his Z18XE, and as the EML was on will I need to disconnect the battery to remove the EML light? if so, how long shall I leave it for?

Thanks.
