cheers will check that, come to think of it the rocker cover did look a bit oily the other day when i had a look at it

had the same problem on my c16se which is basically the same engine, i put a new icv on and it stopped for a day and started again, turned out to be rocker cover gasket was leaking very slightly, try that

Try ICV mate, mite be blocked with carbon:thumbs:

your prety limited as to what it can be with a 8v engine? first thing i would change is the air flow meter

wouldnt that make it do it all the time though? it will be fine most of the drive home then when i pull up at the lights it will be high, then the next lights it will be ok again its annoying me now :(

Could be an airleak somewhere mate.

anybody know what else i can do to fix this problem? i have a 1.4 8v sri (c14se) that sometimes has a high idle (around 1.2k to 1.8k) some of the time its ok but others it will stay high, just changed the ICV and it seemed fine for a while but seems to have gone back to how it was before, any other things i can change that could cause this? cheers
