Ok, water was about 3 litres down!!! Got someone to rev the engine a bit with the expander tank open, saw air bubbles. Vauxhall mechanic did the same, said that gasket was defo gone, and that the water sound behind the cd player sounds like a gasket because the fact that you can hear the water means there's air in the system. He advised skimming the head incase it happens again soon. :( Argh!

Have had this noise for ages now. No problems. I doubt its my head gasket. I've had a cam belt change and major service since and neither garage has said anything.

It is a 1.4 16V yeah. Dunno about white smoke, never really look! Will look tommorrow, havent checked the water for a while either. It's just going for a service next week, so if there's a problem I guess it will be found. It _has_ been starting a bit differently recently I would say, takes occasional revs by itself when idling too...!?!?! What's this mean Ains!?

quote: doubt it. Is it a 1.4 16v by any chance? Does it miss when you start it up, any white smoke, using water? Compare no 4 spark plug to the other 4. Ains

I remember this being discussed a while ago, but can't remember what it was that caused it, it's happening to me now! Sound of water behind the cd player when the car's first moved in the morning.....? Thanks in advance. |
