How do you take the drums off?

its easy if you do it properly.

jack up car, wind the handbrake cable so its slack. and take one drum off and adjust the self adjuster, it is supposed to do itself. they dont.

so
adjust the adjuster till it requires minimal pedel pressure to press on the drum

you will be putting the drum on and off a few times.

repeat on the other side

then put the handbrake on 3 clicks

then wind the cable in till the drums wont move

take the handbrake off check they spin free and your sorted.

easy to do.
just takes a little ltime

ye as said above, dont need to go into drums just adjust it on the beam, if you have no adjustment on that you need a new handbrake cable anyway, it can be done at the side of the road

i did mine the other week, didnt have to get in the hub just messed with the thing on the rear beam, had to hold one bit with mole grips and turn the other bit with mole grips too as it was so rusty, feels a lot nicer now though :)

Not a road side job I'm afraid mate.

I think it involves getting inside the rear brake hub and also messing about with the hand brake adjuster, which is on the rear beam.

Sounds like I've just answered the question doesn't it? lol.
