arite mate, i have exatly the same engine as yours, a 1.4 sri k reg and i have the same problem, had the timing and that checked out and it was bang on, so if you find the problem give me a shout, cheers mate

Check your RON plug mate and make sure its not on 91RON!! This could cause it to pink when using 95/98 RON fuel.

IT HAPPENED TO MY MATE..SOMETRHING GOT INTO THE PETROL TANK..THINK IT WAS A LID OR SOMETHING...YOU COULD HEAR IT WHEN THE TANK WAS EMPTY RATTLING ROUND IN THE TANK.
AND IT WOULD BLOKE THE PIPE WHICH MADE THE CAR JUMP AND PINK..TRY GETTING SOMEONE TO CHECK THE TANK MATE.

change my back box exhaust and a new air filter yesterday ans still no good....
heard that 10k boost is shite, my ecu was re-setted about a month again???

so any other ideas

try reseting ur ecu and maybe use some 10k boost to clear the carbon deposits rom the engine,thats al i can think of. if this dusnt work get a compression test done........

Could also be caused bu the saprk plug not firing meaining that the fuel explodes when the piston moves up increasing prssure. This causes the explosion to happen a moment to late causing pinking


I think!!

pinking to my knowlegde is when the timing of the spark is incorrect and fires at the wrong time....thus causing this sound (pinking).
why would it be crap in the bottom of the fuel that makes this sound??

Mines does this to....been trying here and migweb for about three weeks now without much success

How do you know its pinking? Its most probably crap in the fuel lines or injectors as you said its most prone when petrol is low. you often get crap in the tank from when you fill up.

my corsa sri 1.4 8v is pinking abit nowadays.
went down the motoway and was hitting 4100 rpm, it was ok on the flat but once i went up slight uphills on the motoway (and tried to maintained 4100 rpm) the car starts to pink.
i put in optimax and it seems to stop the pinking up until i start to run out of petrol.
with normal petrol the car pinks alot more.

- i have changed all the pugs/ht leads/gonna change the filter again.
- had a tech 1 test and no code faults showed
- cleaned out all pipes leading to rocket cover
- pipe leading to map sensor changed

i know my standard exhaust is on its way out (or may be already fooked) could it be this??

wat do ya ppl think i should look at to get this problem sorted.
