Dad just had new discs, pads and brake lines(Cos they mangled them) fitted.

i would suggest you change too astra gte 16v brakes, after 2 years there is still plenty of pad and discs left and that is with the weight of a 2.0 16v in car,not bad going for 100 quid.

the worst from hard used brakes is disks pads shoes and rear cylinders maybee the mastercylinder if its old and all that cud come to 350 400 but 750 its rediculous
im doing my own tommorow red dot disks and ebc pads 125 and fitting them myself

my rear brakes have never been changed in 6 years and they still work fine and keep passing mot,so whats the problem with rear pistons.

fcukin hell what a ripp off!!!
Don't get anything done, just get them to write down everything that they say needs doing. Then take it down to your local Vauxhall dealer, they do a FREE safety check on the car, which involves brakes, suspension etc. Then see what they come up with, just don't mention you think the brakes are shagged before they do the check, else they might try making stuff up.

corsa_caz

how much do you reckon that would come too? approx?

Kris TD

posted on 25th Mar 03 at 16:58

if you change the discs you have to change the pads too.
and if the fronts are knackered the rears probably need doing too, then you will need a complete change of brake fluid.

corsa_caz

posted on 25th Mar 03 at 16:56

i think i am being ripped off thats all, car gone for a service today and i knew it would need new brake discs but they are saying it needs a whole new system and is costing me bucks!!

Kris TD

posted on 25th Mar 03 at 16:53

pads, discs, brake shoes and fluid, maybe rear drums

unless its totally fucked which i very much doubt it then u will need the brake lines and calipers and rear cylinders too.

if your whole braking system needed changing what exactly would it involve and how much would it cost??
