Had same prob start last week on my 1.6. Sounded like it was coming from the back of the engine and sound never went. Found problem was when the garage serviced my car a month ago they didn't put enough oil back in. I took out less that a litre. I put new oil in, new filter and put in some engine flush. Solved the prob. Then changed the oil again and filter and added oil treatment. This was Sunday and has been ok since. Fingers crossed.

I have searched this site top to bottom and found people with noisey lifters which is the most common tap, only tap when cold and once warm the tap would dissapear. This is not true for my issue. I can do a 30 mile drive down the motorway and once ive come off and going normal speed i can hear them slightly again. Its coming from the middle right of the engine, behind the coil pack area'ish.

For the last month the corsa has been making a strange 'clicking' noise when its on coming from behind the coilpack to the right of the inlet manifold.

It seems to get faster when the revs are higher.

My question is what is behind / in that area that could be making a clicking noise? I was thinking waterpump but im not even sure if its in that area?

What are the most common clicking ticking sounds in that area?
