Yeah, I've u2u'd you. I'm not in a massive rush to get it done but if it goes through it's mot next week, it'll be in the next month or so.
It seems solid enough atm, but as I've said it does tap quite a lot when cold, it's a bit smokey and it idles a bit rough. Not sure what that's down to though.

Fuk me thats xpensive, I could do a rebuild with portd head and prob pistons for 1k or so! Haha, I mustnt be charging enough obviously! Oh and if u have u2u'd me il try get it tonight ive got 7 to reply too now but not been near comp for 3wks.

Rebuild if bores are ok is usualy:

Strip down, everything chemicaly cleaned, crank checked/polished. I use ACL 780 big ends and mains, mahle or ks rings. Bores honed, new oil pump, water pump, gates belt kit if early type, cant think of make I use for late type now though. Elring gasket sets top and bottom. Head stripped, guides checked, decoked, valves cleaned and ex valves recut. New seals and light skim, and rebuilt. Ready to go.

Obv depending on budget, I can build from stock to all steel jobby

I had my xe rebuilt - new bearings and gaskets throughout.. bores honed, new rings, stem seals, pressure tested head... i dropped the engine off to them half stripped and picked it up rebuilt... total cost was just short of £1200!

My xe is tapping and generally a bit tired so I was thinking of getting it rebuilt, how much does a rebuild cost roughly and what work goes into it? Thanks.
