Oh, it's an Astra...

White smoke is usually steam. I'm guessing it doesn't smell oily either?

ok so, tonight i was driving down the road and i started to feel the car running poor. pulled up at my house and it was very smokey so turned it off, checked the water and its a bit low (last time i topped it up was quite a while ago) the oil on the dipstick is still black and the water is still clear, then i started it up again and it chucked lots of white smoke out again so turned it streight off. Had a bit of a check round, started it back up and the smoke had stopped but it was still running rough at idle but sorts its self out once it gets above 1k revs.
any ideas whats up with it? its not been smokey or drank water before so its deffinatly not a gradual thing?

start my new job tomorrow, this is bloody tyipical!
ohh, its an astra mk4 1.6 8v 1999 ecotec engine.

cheers.
