go 4 the 16v. with age against u the 8v may end up costing u more in repairs! Plus slightly better throttle response on the 16V.

yeah speedos on cheap cars arent very accurate at hi speed, and the fact that his clio was doing 112 in the firstplace is suspicious!

sport16v, what makes you an expert? And matt jones, what mods do you have to make your 1.4 8v SPI do 120? My 1.6 16v just manages 120.

Ive not had a 1.4 8v but i have had 2 16vers and have been very pleased with both, if your gonna go for tunning you would probably be able to get the same out of both engines, but it will be easier with th 8v i expect!!!

16v has miles more tuning potential and ya get more bhp per pound on mods

The 8v engine has more low range torque and pull...where as the 16v engine needs to be revved a bit to get going...the 16v is slighty quicker though. Trust me im an expert.

I have been looking for a 1.4 16v lump for a while now, but a mate of mine has took a 1.4 8v out of a car, that has had the engine reconned and rebuilt, was an ex show car(well, dint make it to many shows lol!) for £80 with gearbox n ecu, the engine itself looks mint, and last time it was in car, it was not allowed over 4k cos it was being run in,anyone think this may be a beta buy than the 16v? wot potential has it got? |
