haven't checked the other mounting bolts ainsley i'll check them over.

mikee i think it was the gearbox one. Its in the middle under the car and is bolted up to the floor (think its fixed to the sub frame). As far as i know there only are 3 and the other 2 are under the bonnet so yes thats probably it.

Ok i'll check the bolts then if their tight i'll replace the other 2 mountings. Failing that any other ideas?:)

Have you checked the bolts in the other mountings are tight.
Have often known the bolts come out on the front engine mount if someones been in there before and not really tightened them up.

Thought of changing the other mountings but i wasnt sure if the wear in them would cause such a movment, i thought the middle one would have been the main one for engine stability but i will change them whenever i get a chance.

I was thinking maybe some bushes might be worn also but i`m not sure if they could cause this?? :boggle:

i got exactly the same prob m8, been like it since i had it.

I thought it might be TPS, but i still puttng up with the problem. I do have a dodgy clutch, so might be that. I'll fix it one day.

Let me know how u get on m8.

if she aint been smooth with the clutch, it could be the gearbox as u say, but dont take my word for it aint aint an expert

When I accelerate or come off the accelerator there is like a jolt coming from the car. It feels like it is the engine and gearbox moving. The car has has had this problem since i got it but it has gradually been getting worse. The woman who owned it before, was a bad driver (she took me for a test drive). She wasn’t smooth when going on to the accelerator pedal and coming off it was all or nothing if you know what I mean. Also she couldn’t change gears smoothly either.

My first guess to this problem was engine mountings, I have now replaced the mid mounting (the one that goes under the car) as it was badly worn but he movement/jolting is still there.

Any ideas? Should I change the other 2 mountings or any rubber bushes? or is this more like gearbox wear??

Thanks,

Alan.
