could the 3rd teminal be for the read out so has a seperate terminal

Um, you want to connect it straight across the battery. When it's charged it's a infinite impendance and if you wired it in series, your amp wouldn't work ;)

That'll be 1.0 farad by the way.

Dont touch the terminals once youve connected it cause it will shoot you across the road.

You need to connect the feed from the battery / switch etc to the + and the feed to the amp to the -

The readout out will be a resistive load that will dishcarge the capacitor over time, sometimes if they havent got a readout they'll have an internal resistor that will do the same job.

Maybe the third terminal is a relay that only allows the capacitor to be charged when the headunits turned on much like the REM lead from your headunit to your amp - just looped through the capaitor terminal instead.

there is 3 terminals a + a - and a little 1 at the back of the capacitor wot is this 1 for
