my 1 litre is very noisy with semi-synthetic vauxhall oil in and the time before i used thicker i know is for old cars but as long sa you take it steady till warm is ok i used duckams 20/50 green stuff and you could hardly hear the tappets this time i put vaux oil in and its noisy so back to duckams ether today or tomorow!

never use second tappets, they both and the cam wear into eachother if u kind get the jist of it. if the tappets r noisy only on startup just use a thicker viscosity oil.

I recomend that you only adjust your tappets if you know what your doing or you have someone with experience to help.

Of course try changing the oil and flushing the fuel system before going to that expense though :)

a good oil change with good oil will make them alot quieter, don't buy tappets from a scrappy, wouldn't be worth it really.

Hydrolic tappits, on most vaux engines are noisy on startup and an oil change normally cures it... vaux oil is good and cheap

what kind of a job is it to change tappets, i hear em on cold mornings, only really cold like below 1 degree. Will flush and a decent synthetic 10w40 sort it ?
