yeh it does smell quite strong of petrol and if its in garage and i start it up only take a few seconds befor u can start to smell it

Stand behind the car and rev it.

If it's a strong petrol smell chances are it's a de-cat

Small box half way down the "pipe" could be either the silencer or the cat.

Silencer normally round, cats are usually like a squished box.

Sometimes people bash out the internals on the cat so it looks like you have one.

Others just replace the pipe with the cat on with a dec-cat pipe;

is your exhaust really raspy?? sometimes the internals can be taken out of the cat so it may look like ones still there....

as it ses rele, is the the small box half way down the pipe?
